Good simple puzzle fun in a ball July 25, 2010 Helen E. Horseman I bought this for my father and we both love it. It's good for hours of entertainment (and frustration) and has three 'start' points so you don't have to do the whole thing when the bearing gets away from the track.
Drives you mad June 14, 2010 S. Anderson (Glasgow, Scotland) This is possibly the most infuriating toy I have ever experienced. It is also probably the most-used toy I have ever owned. The 'course' inside the ball is split into three sections so you don't need to start right from the beginning every time the little ball falls off (and believe me it will fall off a LOT). I know it's classed as a toy but everyone I know has had a go, and I bought it for a 21 year old who has barely put it down since he got it (although he still hasn't mastered it). It really improves your hand-eye co-ordination, and definitely has an impact on your patience. I can say that it is extremely durable because it has been thrown against a wall a few times and remains intact. I'd say that a child would probably have to be about 10-12 years old to attempt this, as even adults seem to have serious difficulty with it. The name is perfect- you will become addicted.
Hours of fun June 4, 2010 Mrs. S. Murphy 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this for my nephew who is seven and he was quite excited and started playing straight away. Not easy but keeps his concentration levels up.
Not as good as the original... April 25, 2010 M. Spencer 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I picked this up because one of my favourite puzzles is the Superplexus (which I think has been rebranded now as Perplexus without the electronics which allow you to save your best times for each stage).
The Superplexus is a really nice, solid well designed puzzle. The Addicataball really feel like a cheap knock-off when put side by side. The build quality is pretty poor. The surrounding sphere is a thin plastic which you can feel warp as you handle the thing (if you let the ball bearing roll allong the outershall as you hold it, you can feel it pass over your hand.) There are a couple of moving sections which feel stiff and badly constructed. The design isn't as good: There are various sections where the ball becomes obscured which never really happened with the original and there are even parts where the maze paths cross with no barrier. There are sections which are stolen directly from the original so those who already have the Superplexus should know they aren't getting a unique game.
The bottom line is this: If you have never owned one of these types of puzzles then the original is hands down the better choice. If you already own the Superplexus and have beaten it then feel free to give this a go but it will feel cheap once you've actually got it in your hands. Until they come out with a Superplexus 2 though it's still 3D maze turning fun... just not as much fun as the original.
Does exactly what it says on the box March 23, 2010 H. Parnell 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
It is frustrating, has reduced my nine year old to tears, my sixteen year old using language that should not said in front of his mother, and me a tad over 21 sulking like a five year old, but we love it and even after having it for over two months one of us is always playing with it. Some times we leave it for days but its like it calls to you and you just have to give it another try to see if you can get a little further. It really is addictive but is so much fun. I gave up smoking just before we got it and it helped as it gave my hands something to do and while concentrating on this i could forget about cravings. It also provides a great source of amusement as anyone who comes to our home gives it a try and it is always fun to see grown men reduced to petulant five year olds while exclaiming there must be something wrong with it. If you want to get your kids something that does not need batteries or needs to be plugged in then this is the one for you.
