Good educational toy July 2, 2010 Jen (Oxfordshire, UK) I bought this toy for my 7yo birthday recently and it has been a big success. He would not leave it alone until he went to bed, trying to make every single construction he could think of. One of the connectors had been manufactured with a problem as a piece was missing. I emailed the seller to request a replacement for that piece as it was no use to the game, and the piece arrived by post within a couple of days. Also, i have received a couple of emails from the company asking if I was satisfied with the service given... that's what i call customer service!
Schools not home June 11, 2010 Gargoyle (Bedfordshire) I bought this for my 10 year old. I bring it out, he makes and plays with the circuits but it gets put away and only I ever bring it out. It doesn't do enough - it beeps and buzzes and makes different sounds, spins a helicopter - but the text is laid out for a teacher wanting to demonstrate principles rather than a child wanting to make things. More of an educational tool than a thing to play with.
great fun while learning May 14, 2010 C. Anderson I bought this for my nephew. The suppliers were very helpful and the product arrived in time for his birthday. great fun for him and his dad doing the experiments
Mostly good - durability an issue? March 23, 2010 Derek Willett (Hindhead, England) Durability was poor - the 'sound module' failed within 6 hours of being given to my 8 year old grandson. Apparently he had been experimenting and the component 'blew'. I think that if the kit is intended for experiments it should also be designed to withstand them. I contacted Cambridge Brainbox who said they would send the part. It didn't come, so after two weeks I contacted them again and this time the part did arrive, so well done them!
Also, the manual is written in a style that is far beyond the average 8 year old's reading ability. Therefore, play requires an adult to read it and explain.
Having said all that, my grandson LOVES it!!
Great fun for an 8 year old March 6, 2010 R. Sharpe (UK) i bought this for my 8 year old. He loves it. We spent a couple of hours working through the basic set-ups together and now he plays with it independently. The flying fan is a special favourite.
My only disappointment is that the kit contains two bulbs - one of which never worked - and a lot of the experiments require two bulbs. if this is a gift, it might be worth opening it up and buying in some spare bulbs in advance.
