Customer Reviews: Not a bad deck, but there are better... February 6, 2009 pOtpanman ak47a Tom (ENGLAND) Just a quick review of this to help anyone thinking of buying it.
This deck is full of creatures which have brute force as their main weapon, if you like to get stuck in with 10/10, 6/4, 5/5 creatures etc, then this deck may well be for you, there are a few neat socery's etc, but nothing too special, its a well balanced deck in my opinion, just one problem i found when using it, is that becuase a lot of your creatures are so big, they are also expensive, and therefore the early stages of combat will probably not involve your larger creatures, so you will have to survive the early stages with reasonably weak creatures, however if yo do get through to the later stages, then this deck is very formidable and fun.
i hope that if you buy this deck you have fun! i give it five stars, just because its magic:the gathering! and all the cards are really cool!
Morningtide Theme Deck - Warrior's Code October 18, 2008 James T. Bebbington (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a deck which I really have mixed opinions about. Obviously no theme deck is going to really stand up to a deck made by an experienced player, but even still Warrior's Code is not an immediately powerful deck.
For a deck that clearly seems to be all about the beatdown it's not exactly quick to start. It has very few one-drop creatures and most of its early action is on turn two. Despite this, even its turn two isn't spectacular. Elven Warrior is not an amazing card here, and could be replaced by something a lot better.
The red side of things doesn't make it sweeter. The red cards aren't anything amazing and despite some good cards, they don't really pull the deck up from its rather stodgy and uninteresting elvish side.
So having described a rather abysmal deck, I'll go on to point out why I'm glad I bought it! Firstly, the treefolk here are excellent. Obviously there's better, but for a beginner or even a less new player they're pretty good. The kinship mechanic really helps them out - they're all warriors and so pull up the lackluster elves.
Also, the spells aren't bad. The artifact, Obsidian Battle Axe is pretty good and Release the Ants is still a good card for the deck. The clash mechanic on Release the Ants is especially helpful, and can keep the card working right into the late game.
All in all, Warrior's Code is a decent deck, if not a very good one. I would've liked to see more powerful elves and some dual-lands, but it performs as it should and generally works well.
