Each dolphin fits into a similar coloured ring, and once afloat, a tap on every head sounds a different note. Once the dolphins are clicked together in order (they are numbered one to 10) little hands can play their first scale.
Fun and musical, the dolphins also have educational value. As well as introducing children to pitch and scales, matching the dolphins to their rings can aid colour recognition and linking them in order helps counting.
As simple bathtime toys, the Do Rae Me Dolphins are great fun. Though they may not quite produce a symphony, each time little hands hit the dolphins, they will be rewarded with a note. Producing a full scale or a tune of any meaning is probably beyond the capability of the target age range, but toddlers will still enjoy the dolphins for their bright, stimulating and ultimately noisy qualities. One tip for mum or dad: the dolphins don't come with a bag or box and are difficult to store once they are out of the cardboard, so it would definitely be worth investing in a storage container or some kind. --Lucie Naylor
