Editorial Reviews:
Synopsis
'Helping Young Children With Steady Beat' is an anthology of rhymes and jingles specially written to help children develop beat competency.
It is interesting to note the way in which the ability to maintain a steady beat appears to be necessary to successfully perform any task that involves sophisticated movement. We need this sense of timing when walking, dancing, writing, cutting with scissors, hammering in a nail or drawing. In fact, it is so essential that if someone lacks beat awareness, he or she usually have difficulty with both gross and fine motor skills.
Recent studies have even shown a correlation of beat competency to school achievement that exceeds that of either social class or mother's education, these latter two being the usual predictors of school success.
Available to accompany this book is a small cuddly toy called BEAT BABY, who can be used at the beginning and end of sessions to help focus the children and to bring emotional engagement to the whole process.
If you already have a copy of 'Helping Young Children With Steady Beat' but would like to have a selection of the most popular raps set to really lively and innovative music there is an audio CD (Steady Beat Songs) for you to purchase seperately. It contains 10 tracks including the ever popular Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs!
Customer Feedback:
"I was on a speech & language coures where the tutor used 'Beat Baby'. She had been on one of Ros Bayley's 'Helping Young Children With Staedy Beat' courses, and thought that using Beat Baby was a really good way for children to learn, if they had speech and language problems."

"My nephew is an elective mute. He has a 'Beat Baby' and will talk to her!"
