Bought for sons 8th birthday.quick and easy to assemble.unfortunately x2 laps of the track later it stopped working.hence one v. disappointed son.found out later the power adaptor had failed only because i managed to secure one from a friend.couldn't be bothered to return as it seemed too much of a pullavor but definitely will think twice before buying electrical item from amazon.

This is about the cheapest scalextric kit that you can buy and there is a good reason for it. It is because you cannot really do anything with it. It gives you a good feel for the dimensions of the cars and track and initiates the mouth-watering potential of the fun that can be had from racing scalextric's slot cars, but nothing else. I would recommend it as a starter kit if you intend to buy extra pieces of track and cars to expand the set, like I do, but if you want an out-of-the-box race system then I would suggest that you take a look at some of the other kits.
