I wish I was 4 again! December 19, 2008 Mrs. Kate Crosby (Reading) I loved lego when I was a child and was really looking forward to my son being old enough for 'proper' lego (there just isn't enough variety in 'duplo') and I wasn't disappointed. He's had this box a week now and hasn't stopped playing with it. I would recommend buying a base plate or two to go with it, and you'll probably want to add some wheels and doors/windows fairly quickly as there aren't many on the box. But for sheer number and variety of bricks you can't go wrong. I also like that the tub is big enough for lots of expansion - I can already see that all his christmas money is going to be spent on more!!
Much better value than I expected. April 11, 2008 Kirk St Moritz (UK) 34 out of 37 found this review helpful
I have to admit that I found this rather fun. I bought it for my little girl, who has outgrown her duplo bricks. You can make allsorts with it (literally, if you are that way inclined!) and it also comes with a guide to a load of suggested models. I ignored the guide book and built my girl a car. You get a few wheels etc so it can actually be pushed around. I wish my parents had got me this sort of stuff when I was a kid. I got handmedowns though, with all the good pieces already lost. Um, enough about me. My daughter loves it. The only slight criticism is that the supplied baseplate is a bit small. That really is a minor quibble though. There is an awful lot of lego in this box.
A good starter lego box March 14, 2008 Richard Kelly (Manchester, England) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I purchased this box of lego for my niece for Christmas. It's a good first selection of lego, you have wheels, you have everything you need to make a house (door/window frames and roof tiles). You even have a base plate (even if it is a bit on the small side. The selection of pieces is good. There is an ideas book with some interesting creations in. In fact there isn't really anything you can say that is bad about this box. This makes a great first introduction in to the realms of real lego.
