Product Description
Kids' bedroom a touch on the beige side of life? Deliver a blast of pure technicolour into the otherwise monochromatic corners of your home with the Rainbow in My Room colour projector, a device so brilliant its inventor should be awarded the MBE forthwith. Here's how it works: A series of small Light Emitting Diodes contained deep in the projector's arc shine their pure, clear light towards a unique reflective surface, splitting the light into its constituent visible components and beaming it high onto the nearest flat surface. We recommend a wall for this task, though you may wish to use your little brother or some other inanimate object. As well as generating a beam of pure colour, this device is clever, to boot. One can activate and deactivate the rainbow on demand simply by waving one's hand under a special sensor located on the projector. Complete with two modes (one which turns the rainbow on one colour at a time and another that turns the whole multicoloured light-show on at once), the device boasts an admirable environmental consciousness. To conserve power, it has an auto shut-off function after 10 minutes of rainbowness. Bless. Now, with the awesome power of nature at your disposal, you may create rainbows on demand. Go forth, and be god-like.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly great!   January 3, 2009
Rainbow Fan (UK)
I was going to buy this for my son for Christmas, but after reading the reviews decided against it. He got bought it as a gift from a relative and I'm so pleased - it's fantastic. He loves it! The rainbow is brighter than I expected (his room is not that dark) and shows a lovely light across the room. Agreed the display is not through the air and only shows on surfaces of the room (wall, ceiling) and I wish it had come with an adapter BUT otherwise, it has been a great gift!

I have just purchased one of these and am impressed. Not as weak as stated in other comments. I have tried it in my room now 3pm and it was fine. Can't wait til it's properly dark.

1 out of 5 stars not a good product   December 12, 2008

I have just received this product and am sending it back straight away. I had assumed it would produce bright rainbows by splitting light through a prism, but it is in fact a row of led bulbs which are coloured, reflected from a piece of silver metal. As such, the colours are in 'stripes' not graduated into each other, it is very underpowered and it is very over priced. I think the electronics inside would cost around 2, it is in light white plastic and at 21 it doesn't even come with the 4 AAA batteries required to power it, nor a power cable!

2 out of 5 stars rainbow appears but it has to be pitch black   July 27, 2008

Rainbows are great, especially when you can have one in your room. However, this little piece of kit uses a silver foil mirror and some LEDs to produce a rainbow only in the darkest rooms. In short, it is is very much an under-powered toy. If you think your kids will be skipping under rainbows, think again unless you live in a cave and pitch black is guaranteed.
