4 out of 5 stars What one would expect from Fisher-Price   July 9, 2008

A good high chair all around.

It has some very nice features, such as a reclining back which my son finds more comfortable when not actually eating a meal. I find the multiple heights to be exceptionally useful for using the high chair in different areas of the house- sometimes we sit in the lounge on the floor and have a snack at the coffee table (I know, ideally all food should be eaten at the dining table, but lets be realistic) and position 7 is perfect for me to reach him and attend to his needs still.

The chair and pad, in fact all aspects of the chair are easily cleaned which is a plus. The teether toy connector allows you to put other toys (that have some sort of loop or hole to fit through) to be attached if your baby fancies a bit of change of company at his dinner party. There is a five-point harness and a rigid crotch to keep baby in place, thus I believe Fisher-Price are correct when they state that a four-month-old can sit in the chair. Though I would say from my own experience that it is not easily done (was not actually weaning my baby yet at 4 months, but trying him out in the chair to see how he'd do) as they will need some extra help from rolled up towels on either side to help them stay propped up.

Finally, its nice to be able to pop the snap-on tray in the dishwasher, but I find its a rather odd shape making it virtually impossible to put other dishes in with it at the same time-- maybe it just requires a bit of creative arrangement, but its worth noting especially if you have a compact dishwasher as I do.

The bad bits...
Over all, I gave the chair 4 stars as I thought there were some areas where they simply skimped. I believe there are two areas which are problematic.

Problem 1: The Tray
I found that the main tray that slides onto the arms does not engage as quickly nor as securely the first time you put it on as one would like and since the grooves in which the tray secures are only grooves in the plastic, I can see them wearing from constantly shifting the tray back and forth to ensure it is truly secure. I'd like to add, there is a 5-point harness which MUST be used, especially with this chair as I found the first few times using this chair that the tray slips forward easily and thus a rambunctious baby/toddler could pretty easily topple out if they're not fastened in with the harness. Its great when its properly secured-- just be mindful of it.

Problem 2: The Recliner Function
The recliner is a great idea, but I find that its easy to mis-align (or miss the holes entirely) the two sides when trying to change the back of the chair's position-- I find myself micro-adjusting back and forth to find the correct grooves for both sides so that the back of the chair is secured properly-- the consequence of not doing this is when baby shifts his weight to the side not engaged, it sags backwards and strains the other (plastic) bit that is properly engaged on the other side. Also, with the way the hand-lever is engineered the movement of reclining the chair is not fluid, thus if you baby is only lightly asleep, they will wake up as the movement of the back is not seamless.

These two 'problems' are really only small in the greater scheme of things, as I found that the chair did meet most all my requirements for being a good sturdy chair in which to feed and entertain my baby. Perhaps these problems are endemic to all high chairs-- this is my first experience with one so, if I am blathering on about the problem with all chairs, I do appologise.

At any rate, what remains to be seen is whether or not the problems Ive outlined above are problematic to the point of this being a high chair that last through the weaning of only one child or if it can last beyond one use.

even though it is on a big side, and my kitchen and living room are really tiny (dont even have coffee table, couse there's no room) im still very happy with all its features, good quality for reasonable price, my little boy loves sitting in it and looking around, and because it reclines, he can sit in it even though he is only 4 and a half months old

This is a great high chair. Its easily adjustable in lots of directins and its all easy to clean, especially the tray which can go into the dishwasher. My only quibble is the amount of space it takes up. There is no easy way to store it as the chair part is fixed. I also find it quite cumbersome to move around. So if you have a nice big kitchen where it wont get in the way when your baby isnt using it, this is a great choice. If like me, you live in a small apartment, it takes up a lot of space!

I have twins aged 7 months and I have two different highchairs, one is the fisherprice highchair and the other is a chicco. The chicco highchairs cost more than the the fisherprice. Because of the prices I thought the chicco would be the better highchair but out of the two I prefer the fisherprice. This highchair can be used from three months which is abonus. My babies fit into the seat nicely and the straps can be adjusted so they fit closely to the baby, so you know they are safe. The seat can be reclined if they fall asleep in the chair. My babies will eat in it, play in it and watch telly in it which is great if you are trying to clean. Overall I would recommend this highchair to anyone it has been one of the best things I have bought.
