Excellent Christmas Present for our 4 year old son January 2, 2009 M. Kendrick I am so glad that we ignored all the bad reviews for this camera and still bought it as a christmas present. My four year son absolutely loves it. He had taken 82 photos by christmas dinner and is now on over 200. He has also taken several videos and loves playing the games. He has played with it every day since christmas and we have had a real laugh looking at some of his photos. We looked at them on the TV and also uploaded them to the computer. We have put 4 rechargeable batteries in it and they have only been charged up twice. He found the controls very easy to understand and uses it with real ease. Its very tough and durable as he has already dropped it at least 4 times. The photos are not the best quality but you must remember that its a childs toy. At 4 years old , nothing he takes is important and its all for fun. He takes pictures of anything and everything. I am not sure what other people who bought it were expecting!! It looks like a childs toy and works like a toy. We would never use it to take important photos as thats what my camera is for. For 37 this was excellent value for money and it even came with a carry bag. The blue or pink one seems to cost a lot more. I would recommend this camera to anyone!!
Toy not a camera December 29, 2008 jim (UK) We bought this camera as a Christmas present for our 5 year old son. The concept is excellent; sturdy construction; big buttons; easy to use and fun accessories. However, the camera is very poor. The screen is poor; the flash is almost useless and the photo quality is very disappointing, producing underexposed, grainy pictures. The camera does not work well in doors or on sunny days outside. If you want a toy that helps a child learn their way around a simple digital camera then this might be the toy for you but if you want a camera for your child, avoid this there must be something better on the market.
Fantastic .... December 15, 2008 Mr. Tony Kelleher (Portsmouth , England) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Really dont know why people expect this camera to be as sharpe and amazing as an adults camera. This Camara was bought for my 7 year old 2 days ago and my 4 year old is trying to steal it already ! It has so many great functions, they love putting fun frames around people, snapping people when they least expect it etc .. The video function is fun and they enjoy the games. It has taken many great photos inside our house and out. Its a bit of fun that will keep them busy for hours and lets face it they arent looking for perfection. When we go on holiday its the first thing they will pack, it holds 200 photos so it should last the week but if not we will delete some !! Well worth the money .
Good concept, poor execution November 1, 2008 IGetPwnedOften (UK) 89 out of 90 found this review helpful
We bought this camera for our son's third birthday and decided to test it before he knew about it and I'm glad we did as we have sent the camera back for a refund. The camera is physically ideal - big chunky buttons that are easy to press, screw down covers for the batteries so he can't pull it apart and it's generally quite rugged and kid-proof. The problem is the use of this camera as, well, a camera. It takes shots that are 640x480 and they all come out looking slightly blurred, if indeed they come out at all. It only really works outdoors during the day; try to use it indoors and the viewscreen is so dark you can barely see anything and the flash is pretty much worthless. It reminds me of the first digital camera I ever bought quite some years ago in the days when digital cameras were in their infancy - expensive and not very effective. In fact it seems to me that Vtech have bought a job lot of these old, nasty cameras and put them in new cases. For the money, you're better off buying a cheap, half decent camera which honestly is a real shame as this is a very good idea in concept. One final thing - this camera comes with a carry case in the box which is not mentioned in the listing here, so don't make the mistake we did and order a seperate case as you don't need it.
